Best IVs for Master League
Master League IV evaluation is fundamentally different from Great League and Ultra League.
There is no low CP cap encouraging players to intentionally reduce Attack. You generally want the strongest finished Pokémon possible.
The Default Target: 15/15/15
For many Master League species, a 15/15/15 candidate is the ideal long-term build.
That does not mean every near-hundo is unusable. It means expensive alternatives should be evaluated carefully.
Why 15 Attack Matters
Real Attack can decide Charged Move Priority when both Pokémon throw on the same turn.
This makes 15 Attack especially relevant in common mirrors.
Use the PVPium CMP Checker.
14 Attack Requires Context
Do not automatically build or reject a 14 Attack candidate.
Check:
- How common the mirror is
- Whether CMP changes the outcome
- Whether an Attack breakpoint is lost
- How rare the species is
- How expensive the build will be
15/15/14 vs 15/14/15
Near-hundos with 15 Attack can still differ.
Missing Defense may change a bulkpoint. Missing HP may change a close endgame.
Test important matchups before investing a large amount of Candy XL.
Do Not Use Appraisal Percentage Alone
Two Pokémon showing similar appraisal percentages can have different practical value depending on which IV is missing.
Expensive Projects Deserve Higher Standards
If a species requires a major Level 50 investment, waiting for a stronger candidate may be reasonable.
If the species is extremely rare and the near-hundo loses nothing important, building now may also be reasonable.
Master League IV Decision Table
| Spread | General Question |
|---|---|
| 15/15/15 | Usually ideal long-term target |
| 15/15/14 | Check HP-dependent endgames |
| 15/14/15 | Check defensive thresholds |
| 14/15/15 | Check CMP and Attack thresholds carefully |
Final Takeaway
For Master League, maximize finished stats and give 15 Attack special attention.
Near-hundos can be excellent, but evaluate exactly what the missing IV changes before committing a Level 50 investment.
